Formerly a member of the Community of Communes Vesle and Coteaux de la Montagne de Reims (CCVCMR), Val-de-Vesle is now one of the 144 municipalities of the Urban Community of Greater Reims (CUGRe) since 2017:
The Municipality of Val-de-Vesle was born in 1965 from the merger of 3 municipalities (Wez, Thuisy and Courmelois) today called "districts":
The Commune is also crossed by the Natura 2000 site called "Marais de Courmelois":
